Welcome to a chilled space, a place to retire to if you're feeling in any way mentally ill, stressed or anxious. Chill. I will add a couple of new songs everyday. Emotional gems...
Eddie Vedder (from Pearl Jam) created a classic soundtrack to this moving film..
Ethereal and truly inspirational.. Unlike anything I have ever heard
Sublime song. New Order emerged after the death of Ian Curtis when they were called 'Joy Division'. I won't play any Joy Division here because it's too bleak and dark...
A beautiful voice from the album 'Nina Simone & piano!' Nina Simone was diagnosed with severe bipolar disorder in the 80s and it really had an effect on her career and personal life. She was on medication for a long time. She was erratic. Check out my blog entitled Nina Simone vs Bipolar..
Haunting use of the saxophone against the backdrop of the Hilliard's Ensemble choir. The two go together very well..
One of Nick's more upbeat songs. The guitar, as usual, is incredible - played in his own unique style and the use of his own guitar tunings. Compared to Nick's sparse final album (Pink Moon), Bryter Layter, his second album has an orchestra and even a brass section in some of the songs. Sublime.
Enough to move me to tears when I had my first 'breakdown'..
A beautiful rendition of this timeless piece. I can picture Elgar walking over the Malvern hills while he created this masterpiece. My music teacher started crying when we played this piece in the school orchestra!
Time Out of Mind (released 1997) was a huge return to form after the 80's and early 90's. It's melancholic to say the least but highly inventive. Make you Feel my Love was originally by Bob Dylan and covered by Adele.
I nave no idea what it's about, but it's really sublime.
Sergio Leone’s film is a slow-burning epic set against the backdrop of the American frontier. The music is very important to this film, each central character has their own musical motif. It has to be one of Ennio Morricone's best scores, it's melancholic by design. When I had terrible depression I used to pace the floor all night listening to this music.
A beautiful rendition of Simon and Garfunkel's Kathy's Song. I prefer this to the original. Addicted to this..
A beautiful and haunting melody from this classic film. Ennio Morricone was one of the most brilliant film composers of all time. He passed away in 2020.
Haunting song by Cat Stevens. "Wherever I am girl I'm always walking with you, but I look and you're not there". "Each night and day I pray in hope that I might find you, because heart's can do no more". " It always ends up to one thing, honey, still I kneel upon the floor..."
Beautiful, ethereal cover of Tim Buckley's Song to the Siren. It features Elizabeth Fraser from the Cocteau Twins. She has a unique voice. Released in September 1983.
I never thought I would like Prince but this song is so powerful - it's 16 minutes of pure emotion. He plays the electric guitar really awesomely, it's like nothing I've ever heard before..
Absolutely sublime. This work is so ethereal and moving it can bring you to tears...
A song that you will never get bored of. It has maybe the best guitar solo ever halfway through! The song made me feel positive in a place where there was no positivity at all (psychiatric hospital). Enjoy!
